Orsolya Deák-Clyne was born in 1981 in Transylvania and grew up in Cologne. She has been involved intensively with music since her early childhood. Her training began on the piano at the age of eleven with Mrs. Margit Mátyás at the Rheinische Music School in Cologne and Professor Andreas Frölich. As a young pianist, she won several awards, including the federal competition Jugend Musiziert. She completed her studies in instrumental pedagogy at the Folkwang University of the Arts under Professor Till Engel.
She was also involved with chamber music masterclasses and piano masterclasses by Mr. Ilan Rogoff and professors Pavel Gililov and Arnulf von Arnim amongst others. During her studies, she began three years of additional training as a Little Piano School teacher as a fellow of the Klavier Festival Ruhr. She has been running the Little Piano School Berlin since 2013 and also works closely with Kim Monika Wright, the founder of the teaching method.
Music is a universal language. The love of music doesn’t have to be learnt, it is there from birth and stays with us for a lifetime. This idea is the focus of the teaching method Kim Monika Wright developed in 1986. The aim of this teaching method is to maintain a natural approach to music, to develop and promote it through play.
Even at the age of 18 months, children have their own ideas and needs. Our task is to identify those needs and to understand and respect them. The world of young children consists of countless „living“ elements, our lessons are aligned to this perception. The sensitive handling and lively exchange with the children is just as much in the spotlight as is the inclusion of ethnic and cultural diversity. In small groups the children experience playing, dancing and singing using an intuitive approach to music, simultaneously developing their social and motor skills. Here, the easily accessible piano is not only an instrument but the perfect toy and ideal medium for children with wich to express themselves.
Classes are held twice a week for thirty minutes each in small groups with children of roughly the same age. The courses for the youngest children can be started from the age of 18 months and is based on psychomotorics and the implementation of our early musical games. Older children can later take individual classes along with the group courses.

The children playfully learn the basics of note reading in both treble and in the bass clef, thus developing a good basis for all instruments.
The piano is a robust, child-friendly instrument played in a very natural posture.
We know from experience that even very young children can play music on the piano.
We strive for a group size of five children per class - small enough to work individually with each child, large enough to allow lots of interaction.
We teach age-homogeneous groups in order to optimally respond to the needs of the children.
Children with special needs play side by side with their peers in the same group which helps promote understanding and social inclusion.
By connecting notes with colors, music becomes identifiable to children in the world around them.
The classes are held without parents, so children can develop their independence.
In childhood, one week is an eternity – the two weekly lessons maintain the child’s attention, the learning effect and the feeling of play.
